Located in the meanders of the Lot valley, Clos La Coutale produces wines with an international reputation. The American magazine Wine Spectator notably ranked it among the 100 best wines in the world in 2009. Terroir: Spread over 100 hectares between oceanic and continental influences, with a soil made up of gravel and clay-limestone silica, the vineyard is mainly planted in Malbec (called Auxerrois locally)). Its microclimate and geological formation make it possible to produce wines for keeping. Viticulture: The vines are on average 35 years old with a simple 'guyot' pruning with seven eyes. Yields are average with a production of 45 hectoliters per hectare in order to let the fruit express all its intensity. Vinification: The plots are vinified separately, in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats with pumping over and punching down, then partially aged in oak barrels.
