The real structuring of our vineyard began with the founding of the Madiran monastery in 1030. Monks from the abbey of Marcilhac sur Célé (Lot) settled and dedicated a monastery to Mary. Very quickly, the reputation of Madiran wine will be assured by the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela taking the Aire s/l'Adour-Lescar route, passing through Saint Mont and Madiran... It is this tradition that our winegrowers maintain today under the banner of Vignobles Marie Maria which brings together some of the most beautiful localities and terroirs of the appellation.
