The Cigalus estate enjoys a warm, sunny Mediterranean climate, allowing all the grape varieties to ripen well. The estate is farmed biodynamically. The aridity of this climate, with its low rainfall, is offset by deep soils (sediments deposited by the Aussou, the stream that borders the estate), which store up winter rainfall for longer, but whose fertility is limited by the presence in the subsoil of slightly chalky sandstone dating from the Campanian period (secondary era, before the emergence of the Pyrenees).
