Officially founded in 1815, when whisky was first legislated in Scotland, the origins of the Ardbeg distillery date back to at least 1794. Located on the south-east coast of Islay, it closed in 1983 and was bought by Glenmorangie in 1997.How it's made: Unchill-filtered, this is one of Islay's most peaty and smoky single malts.
